The towbar is used for towing and steering the aircraft by attaching to the aircraft's Nose Landing Gear (NLG) and being pulled by a tow tractor. The towbar primarily consists of a cylindrical steel body. At one end of the towbar is a lunette eye which connects to the tow tractor. At the opposite end of the towbar is a mechanical head assembly which connects to the aircraft NLG. The towbar is mounted on an articulated undercarriage with a hydraulic pump and a retract spring which raises and lowers the towbar. The Stanley 212000 and 212030 towbars are used for towing B767 B777 A330 A340 DC-10 and MD-11 aircraft.

The Stanley Aviation 215030-1, -2 and -4 configurations are used for towing B767, B777, DC-10, MD-11, A330, A340 and A350 aircraft.

The Stanley Aviation 215030-3 and -5 configurations are used for towing the B777 aircraft only.

The Stanley Aviation 215030-6 configuration is used for towing the A350 aircraft only.

The 180072 Hydraulic Engine Shipping Stand is designed to transport Pratt & Whitney engines PW4074-4098 via truck and/or air. Used in conjunction with the 181745 engine Cradle the Stand provides a safe and effective means of shipping those engines.


· One hydraulic pump handle is stowed on each outside main frame rail between the forward and aft shock mounts. A ball-lock pin secures each handle.

· Two (2) forklift stop assemblies are stowed in the forward fork and held in place with ball-lock pins. When operating the unit install the forklift stop above the stowage location in the forklift stop sleeve and pin in place. (Ensure that the opposite fork stop is removed before lifting.)

· Air/Truck shipping spacers (forward and aft) are stowed in their operating locations either between the Cradle and Shipping Stand or between the upper and lower shock mounts. The shipping spacers can also be stowed in the forward fork tube behind the fork stops. If the optional Engine Build-Up (EBU) spacers are used the shipping spacers can be stored on the inboard side of the EBU spacers. 

· Casters are equipped with foot brakes. Three caster configurations are possible– transport without inlet attached transport with inlet attached and bootstrap. This variety of positions facilitates engine shipping installation shop maintenance etc.

The Stanley 200470 towbar is used for towing and steering the Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) (B737) by attaching to the aircraft's Nose Landing Gear (NLG) and being moved by a tow tractor. The towbar body consists of a cylindrical aluminum body. At one end of the tow bar is a lunette eye which connects to the tow tractor. At the opposite end of the tow bar is a mechanical head assembly which connects to the aircraft front landing gear .

There are two configurations:

P/N 200470-1 B737 Stowable Towbar is used with Boeing BBJ aircraft.

P/N 200470-5 B737 Stowable Break-Apart Towbar is used with Boeing BBJ aircraft.

The Engine Cradle is designed to remove install and/or transport Pratt & Whitney 4074 through 4098 engines. The Cradle also provides engine bootstrap capability. It mounts for transportation purposes to the 180059 Air/Truck Shipping Stand the 180060 Truck-Only Shipping Stand or the 180110 Pneumatic Trailer.  The Engine Cradle Assembly has large work/access platforms removable engine mounts aft engine mount stanchions and forward tombstone adapters. It also includes bootstrap locations on the cradle with shackle provisions for right- or left-engine operations.

The Stanley Part Number 114800-1 & -2 Engine Shipping Systems are designed specifically for transportation ground handling and maintenance of IAE V2500-A5 Engines used on the Airbus A319 20 and 21. The 114800-1 is composed of the 114701-1V Stand and the 114802-1 Cradle. The 114800-2 uses the 114802-2 cradle.

The 114701-1V Stand rides on swivel casters. The casters may be mounted at either of two heights. The lower position provides one inch clearance for engine installation and removal and the upper position provides six (6) inches for towing. The casters may be stowed on the stand for shipping. The aft casters are equipped with locking brakes. The mounts for the cradle are shock absorbing. The shock mounts prevent unwanted vibration or shock loads from being transmitted to the engine during handling and shipping. There are twelve (12) tie-down rings located around the stand for convenience in shipping.

The 114802-1 & -2 Cradles provide forward and aft engine mount assemblies. They are intended for low speed (3 MPH [5 KPH] or less) ramp and hanger smooth surface use only and can be used with the engine manufacturer-approved engine slings or bootstrap hoists to install and remove V2500 engines. The cradles are equipped with four (4) pivoting legs that enable them to be used as a shop work stand. The forward and aft engine mounting supports may be removed to facilitate shipping and storage.

The 114802-1 & -2 Cradles utilize a turnbuckle system that absorbs any rotational stress that is placed on the engine. The aft engine mount of the cradles are designed to pivot thereby eliminating stress caused by rotational inertia. Once the engine is placed onto the cradle and secured to the stand the engine can be moved without fear of damage.

The Stanley Aviation Engine Shipping Stands part numbers 180059-1 -2 –3 and –4 facilitate air and truck shipping of all Pratt & Whitney 4074 through 4098 engines in a shock-mounted configuration via B747 or C-130 aircraft or by air ride truck. The Engine Shipping Stand is generally used in conjunction with the Stanley 181745 Engine Cradle 180086 Special Pallet and 180099 EBU Spacers. The stands also facilitate removal and installation of these engines when used with appropriate cradle and bootstrap equipment.
