New Checklists Help Improve Maintenance & Inspection for AGSE® Equipment & Tooling

AGSE, a global leader in designing, manufacturing, and now servicing innovative ground support equipment and tooling, has commenced the rollout of a new maintenance checklist for its popular latest-generation engine and fan stator transportation stands. The checklist, a new section in a growing number of select equipment service manuals, helps prepare the stand for optimal personnel and engine protection by better identifying and correcting damaged or missing components during a preliminary inspection.

"We've observed many customers' best practices for inspecting and maintaining their equipment and tooling to optimize safe and efficient handling," said Joerg Von Flottwell, Global Vice President at AGSE. "This checklist leverages their expertise, along with that of our quality assurance team and AGSE Global Services' repair professionals, to support more customers in maintaining OEM compliance to maximize their product's life cycle."

The maintenance checklist primarily breaks down the equipment's main assembly into base and cradle subassemblies, illustrating step-by-step tasks not limited to verifying their critical components' part numbers, location, and condition; testing and lubricating moving parts; and inspecting weldment and plating finishes for cracks and corrosion. Inspectors can mark each task with a pass, confirming no defects or improper function, or fail if correction is needed, such as discovering missing parts or parts not meeting a quality standard.

"Engine stands operate as a system of various parts working in conjunction," continued Von Flottwell. "Any interruption, whether a heavily corroded safety pin or expired shock mount, can compromise system performance, which puts the surrounding personnel and engine assets at risk of injury or damage. It is imperative to preserve system integrity through OEM-approved and sourced replacement parts."

A guide at the end of the checklist provides visual examples of what damage to seek out that can impede the stand's functionality. Complimentary maintenance checklist support videos are also available to customers with AGSE website accounts to assist with best inspection and maintenance practices.

Maintenance checklists are now available for the latest PW1100G (AGSE-E262/PWA211430), PW1500G (AGSE-E240/PWA115185), CFM56-7B (AM-2811/AM-2563), and GE90 (AGSE-102/9C6025) engine stands, and GEnx fan stator stand (AGSE-C069/11C3004). Checklists for GEnx-2B (AGSE-E175/11C4300), CFM56-5B (AM-2718/AM-2563), and V2500 (AM-2228) engine stands are scheduled for release later this month.
